Palma Nit de l’Art/ Palma Night of Art
Art Palma Contemporani presents the 29th edition of Nit de l’Art, a yearly highlight the draws art lovers from across the island. On the evening of September 20 galleries throw open their doors for free, showcasing new exhibitions and pouring cava. It’s one of the most anticipated nights in Mallorca’s contemporary art calendar, marking the start of the Balearic art season. Galleries stay open late, and the city comes alive with exhibitions, street performances, and creative energy.

Casal Solleric & ES Baluard: A New Chapter of Immersive Art in Palma
Casal Solleric stands on Palma’s iconic Passeig del Born, exemplifying the distinct features of 18th-century Mallorcan baroque architecture. While it was originally built in 1763 as a stately home for the Despuig family, over the centuries the venue has transitioned from a private residence to cultural landmark. Today, it is managed by the Palma City Council and serves as a hub for contemporary art and culture. Its purpose is twofold: to preserve and celebrate the city’s rich history while providing a platform for artistic expression.

This season is particularly unique, showcasing their first joint exhibition with Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma, the island’s largest showcase of contemporary art. The German artist Markus Linnenbrink brings a deeply immersive and chromatic experience that invites visitors to reimagine architecture and painting as a unified, emotional environment.

This large-scale exhibition “whatwethinkasinsignificantprovidesthepurestairwebreathe” explores the intersection of colour, light, space, and perception — creating a vibrant journey through form and feeling.

The exhibition at Casal Solleric runs from April 30 – September 7, 2025, Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00–20:00; Sundays and holidays, 11:00–14:30. There are more installations on display at Es Baluard.

Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation in Mallorca
Set just outside Palma, the Miró Foundation includes the artist’s original studios and a museum dedicated to his life and work on the island. It’s a quiet, thoughtful space to visit as the summer starts to ease into autumn. Current exhibitions include The Magic Spark, part of a wider city tribute marking 70 years since Miró moved to Mallorca, and Refugia by Rosa Tharrats, on view through August 31. The museum also hosts talks, workshops, and occasional concerts through the season.

Casa Planas – Architours & Artist Residencies
Explore the origins of tourism in the Balearic Islands with Architours, an in-depth cultural visit to the Planas Archive – the largest archive in Europe dedicated to tourism. Housed in a former photo development factory in Palma, the archive holds more than three million images documenting Spain’s tourism boom, including industrial postcards sent around the world, early hotel photographs, and records of cultural events from the 1950s to the 1970s. Founded by Josep Planas i Montanyà, a pioneer of tourism photography, the collection also preserves his original camera equipment. Today it is curated by visual artist and researcher Marina Planas, who brings a contemporary perspective to this extraordinary resource.

The next Architours take place on October 17, November 21, and December 19, 2025. These tours begin at 18:00 and run for about 45 minutes.

Alongside these tours, Casa Planas supports contemporary creation through its artist residency program. On September 19, 2025, artist Tina Codina will present her project Cartografías de la memoria colectiva, developed during her residency with the Taller d’Artistes d’Esment. The presentation will be held at the Teatre Principal de Palma, with short guided sessions running every 30 minutes from 11 AM to 2 PM. Both the archival tours and the residency presentations offer different ways to engage with the same source material — one through preserved history, the other through new artistic interpretation.
